It is absolutely necessary for your Care Need Level to be assessed and approved by a recognised Assesment Service before entering a Rest Home in New Zealand.
Maranatha is a BAND 2 REST
HOME taking people up to
LEVEL 3 care. It
is NOT a hospital.
Established in 1959 by the Maranatha
Fellowship Trust, the Home has proved a peaceful haven for elderley folk in
their declining years. The Trust is made up of Christians drawn from Open Brethren
Assemblies from the South of New Zealand.
Anyone, regardless of their
religious affiliation is welcome and would need to be comfortable with the
Christian Character of the home.
Philosophy
As a Christian Home for the elderly, Maranatha, (sometimes spelt Maran-atha,) operates as a family in the Lord's care, dedicated to provide warm and loving support, with respect and dignity in a peaceful and happy environment.
There are 27 Rooms, some huge by todays standards.
Each Room has it's own hand basin.
Residents can have their own private phone line.
Residents may bring some of their own furniture.
Upper and Lower floors have own Lounge and Dining Rooms
Numerous small sitting rooms for family visits.
TV areas on both floors.
Accessability between floors by stairways and lift.
Full fire protection with smoke alarm, sprinkler system and fire doors throughout up to approved standard codes.
Daily Devotions conducted by visiting people.
Monthly visits by the in-house Doctor.
Registered Nurse, contracted and on-call. Residents health and medication is carefully monitored by the Nurse.
Podiatrist visits the home regularly.
Activities Coordinator, 5 days a week
Weekly outings in a modern Coach. Shopping trips too.
Hair Salon and weekly visits by the Hairdresser.
