A little of the history of the house that is now

As the above plaque says the the original house on the property was built in 1900.

In 1920 it was purchased by Dr. Patrick Shaw and was his home and surgery until 1948.
After World War 2 it continued to be the surgery for Dr. J.M. Wilson.
In 1959 the house was sold by Miss Margaret Shaw to the present owners, the Maranatha Fellowship Trust Inc.

The Home was called Maran-atha or Maranatha - a word found in the book of first Corinthians chapter 16 and verse 32 of the New Testament.

It is an Aramaic word meaning "Our Lord Come" and reflects a very strong belief of the early church and indeed throughout history that Christ would one day return to our earth again. I think the two advents of Christ are well sumed up in the following scripture....

"And just as it is destined that each person dies only once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died only once as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again but not to deal with our sins again. This time He will bring salvation to all those who are eagerly waiting for Him." Hebrews 9:27-28 NLT.

Some people, I feel confuse the fact of death with the return of Christ, but a careful study of the biblical text will reveal that death for the believer is 'our going to Him' whereas the coming of Christ is 'Him coming for us' - R.A.H.
